Query by AEIOUY: Where can I get totally free or atleast cheap moving boxes? I am in San Diego Ca?
I am moving on August initial and truly want low-cost or free moving boxes. I only have a 1 bedroom so 15 or 20 boxes will suffice. Thanks a bunch I actually need to begin packing.

Try grocery stores and pharmacy usually after ‘truck days’ when they get their inventory and merchandise for the week they have alot of leftover boxes….talk to an employee usually at my store we will goto the backroom and get as many boxes as we have.

Are you a regular customer at a neighborhood market or drug store? Perhaps they will save boxes for you ~ this is where I usually get mine.

try going to a hobby lobby. Just ask for a lot of boxes and if they just got a shipment they will send you around the back and unload them for you

Go to your local liquor store and ask if they have any boxes to spare. They usually have lots of them.

In California, if you don’t mind the ‘labels’ you can get ‘good boxes’ of the same ‘shape and size’ from any liquor store … ask them to ‘save them for three or four days’ and then go back and pick them up … if they don’t already have 15-20 in back that you can take right away.

Go to your local WalMart or Target (or similar) and ask them when they do their stcoking and if you can have some boxes when they do. They will let you know what time you can come pick them up and you can usually have as many as you want. If you don’t have one of those you can also get do the same at a Pet Smart or Pet Co. Good luck on your moving day!

Goodwill stores a lot of times gets them with donations and they just end up throwing or putting them in recycling. Ask them.

You can buy moving boxes at Lowe’s if you don’t mind being screwed.

Go to the receiving department and sometimes they will give you boxes if they haven’t already put them into the bailer….

I love to use the boxes bananas come in to the supermarket. The boxes have a top and a bottom so there is very little taping and the boxes are really sturdy. If you go to the grocery store and ask for them you should be able to get all that you want. Also try the fresh food markets for good boxes. If you have time go to craig’s list.com and make an ad about what you need. I see boxes offered all of the time. Oh and the banana crates have grab holes on the side which made them so easy to carry!! Best of luck to you!!

I know if you are a seller on E-BaY you can get boxes for free from UPS and some ship out some really large items on a regular basis, so they do have large boxes.

    Start here http://sandiego.craigslist.org/zip/382611453.html ,

and post a wanted ad for boxes. There is usually someone moving into your area, that needs to get rid of there boxes.

Most grocery stores will save some boxes before they break them down if you ask. Liquor stores are also a good place. Some of their boxes have dividers in, so they are great for cups, glasses, and anything else that you need separated and don’t want to wrap. Also, if you go to the USPS website, you can order Priority Mail boxes. They are delivered free to your door. Most post offices also have them. You can use them for moving, and then ship items in them later. If you do order online, do it right away so you have them in time.
